Pilates on Hudson, Inc. was opened in 2003 by Marilyn K. Miller.
After her career as a professional ballet dancer resulted in numerous injuries, Marilyn was inspired to become a pilates instructor by her experience at The Center for Dance Medicine in San Francisco, recognized as the country's first medically based Pilates based rehabilitation program. Upon moving to New York, she was surprised to discover this approach was not common. Having experienced both physical therapy and a rehabilitative Pilates regimen, Marilyn fully understands where and how pilates fits into the whole healing and rehabiitation paradigm. Because there was no one like her around, she knew she had to share this perspective on the nature of recovery with others and decided to open her studio.
Since then, Marilyn has worked with clients whose injuries and conditions range from neurological condisitons such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, Parkinson's disease, and multiple sclerosis, along with orthopedic issues such as Osteoarthritis, scoliosis, degenerative disc disease and many more. She has worked with many clients both pre and post rehab, and she work comes recommended by top medical professionals including Dr. Louis Bisogni, Chiropractor for the New York Yankees and Dr.Jordan Metzl, Sports/Dance Medicine Physician at the Hospital for Special Surgery.
